As a sort of follow-up to my old Glitch Art post, Datamosh is a digital art technique that manipulates video compression to create visual distortions and glitches. It transforms standard footage into a surreal, often psychedelic, blend of colors and shapes, challenging traditional perceptions of digital imagery. Datamoshing involves intentionally corrupting digital video data to produce unpredictable, often aesthetically pleasing artifacts. This process can create a melting or blending effect between frames, with pixels smearing and colors merging in unexpected ways. Datamosh is recognized for its unique, abstract aesthetic that merges technology with art.
