Photobashing is a digital art technique that involves combining elements of photography with traditional digital painting methods to quickly create complex, realistic scenes. I have forever called this technique Photo-compositing, but either way, it's widely used in concept art, particularly in the film and video game industries, for its efficiency and effectiveness in conveying detailed environments and characters. In Photobashing, artists use photographs as a base, adding digital painting and manipulation to enhance the scene, merge different elements, or alter the mood and atmosphere. This method allows for the creation of detailed and believable images that would be time-consuming to achieve with digital painting alone, and tbh, this is (maybe used to be?) one of the most important techniques a modern graphic artist can learn and master. In terms of Midjourney and text2image, Photobashing is a shortcut to achieving believable VFX and photo manipulation.
