In case you missed it 📣
Midjourney just hired a top Apple Vision Pro engineer, which leaves one big question:
What in the 🤬 are they up to?
No one outside of their tight-lipped team really knows, and in Midjourney fashion we’ll probably find out one day through their Discord office hours 😅
But seriously…
Midjourney is for sure venturing into the hardware domain by hiring Ahmad Abbas, a former key figure in Apple's Vision Pro development, as their Head of Hardware. Abbas, along with Midjourney founder David Holz, is working on a project named "Orb," focusing on 3D data capture to aid in training for video and 3D generation. Although specifics of the Orb remain undisclosed, it is envisioned to facilitate AI-generated 3D worlds and potentially real-time video games, hinting at a future where game consoles with AI processors could generate games in real-time.

Side Note:
I’ve been noticing how well V6 does with short prompts.
The coherence and training is so on point with this model, that my usual rules are going out the window, and I’ve been letting the model handle a lot more of the creative work.
Basically, I’ve been intentionally omitting a lot of detail from my prompts to see how it fills in the blanks on its own, and it blows my mind almost every single time.
As long as you give it a solid starting point, V6 seems to know exactly what you want even with relatively short instructions.
Try this short prompt structure:
[medium] of a [subject] in a [object], [characteristic], [environment], [camera FX], [aesthetics]
Medium = DVD still, oil painting, vogue magazine cover, etc
Subject = rottweiler, orc berserker, albino peacock, etc
Object = Cybertruck, velour track suit, fighter jet, etc
Characteristic = pastel color palettes, muted earth tones, iridescent, etc
Environment = dystopian city, lush jungle, isolated on white, etc
Camera FX = shallow depth of field, forced perspective, diana f+, etc
Aesthetics = 1990s, #Film, grunge chic, etc
And use your judgement on the prepositions, make sure you are describing the interactions between the different prompt elements correctly, i.e. ‘in a’
is very different than ‘on a’
or ‘next to a’
, etc.
'90s photos evoke a strong sense of nostalgia, characterized by their distinctive aesthetic that includes everything from the grainy textures of disposable cameras to the early days of digital photography. This decade's imagery captures a pivotal time in pop culture, fashion, and technology, marked by a mix of boldness and simplicity. The '90s photography aesthetic is a blend of various elements—saturated colors, stark flash photography, and candid moments that feel both raw and intimate. The era is also known for its unique fashion, music scenes, and youth culture, all of which are vividly captured in its photographic record.
